Police questioned Werder Bremen goalkeeper Tim Wiese over a foot-high challenge on SV Hamburg striker Ivica Olic last season but prosecutors said Wednesday no charges would be filed.
Prosecutors in Hamburg confirmed investigations had been carried out with a view to a potential prosecution of the goalkeeper after a complaint had been filed from an unnamed person.
However Hamburg prosecutor Wilhelm Moeller said the investigation had been suspended earlier this month and there would be no further proceedings.
In the match in May, Wiese was shown ONLY a yellow card for the foul on Olic in which the goalkeeper went into the Croatia striker with his leg outstretched and his studs showing.
Olic was caught on the shoulder by the goalkeeper's boot but continued the game after treatment.
Wiese was quoted by Sport Bild Wednesday as saying he had been questioned by police for 30 minutes on an "attempted manslaughter" charge.
Olic said he was also questioned by two plain-clothes police officers in the SV Hamburg dressing room who asked him if he wished the goalkeeper to be charged.
"For me this is all long over with. There was no intention there," Olic was quoted as saying. "I don't understand that Tim Wiese could be charged over such a thing."
