It's just that I believe the Q6600, once overclocked, is a great CPU, most people overestimate CPU importance in games..

But if you really want to throw a 180€ CPU away, you should sell the whole comp before the components aren't worth anything and buy some combo i5 750 + P7P55D + 4GB DDR3-1600, a NH-U12P SE2 cooler, a good video card and your PC will be the best on gamezone..

    Good luck saving, I know I can't

thx. now I'm not sure if I should save or upgrade. a reason why I don't like the pc anymore is his small case, that it's very loud now and that my soundcard doesn't fit in anymore(120€ thrown away). the coolers are also crap. to overclock it I had to buy new ones, than a new motherboard and ram. the pc is two years old already and has no warranty anymore.

It's simple, what I would do if I had a Q6600 is see what kind of RAM I have, if it's DDR2-800, I would keep it and change the rest, a bigger case, a PSU, a motherboard, a cooler and use the money saved on the processor for the video card. The "Core2Quad - DDR2" combo is good for at least two more years.

If, on the other hand, it's DDR2-667, I would sell the whole comp and build a new config, i5 750 + P7P55D like I said..

but I recently bought a new psu(power supply?) and a 9800gt. and according to SIW it's ddr2 667 (333 MHz) from "Qimonda". so upgrading doesn't pay.

Yes provided you read the info well, you'd have to buy new RAM anyway, this one would limit your CPU around 3GHz

    What's the PSU you bought?

    Fortron fsp550-80gln 550watt

and why would you buy ddr3 1600 ram? on alternate they say me that the i5-750 supports only until 1033.
