exactly why don't they make it like that: letting you download the full game and play it for let's say 10 hours. then you have to pay to play it infinite. per steam this is easy to make

Painkiller : Ressurection would have been a better use of your money. No amount of discount could save it from being an absolute disgrace to the franchise. It's mysogynistic, the gameplay aspect is paltry and padded at best, the jokes are unfunny, and Duke is reduced to being a complete cover-humping pussy with regen health. Two of the worst FPS design conventions ever implemented in an FPS game.

Do you really think that a good portion of the gaming masses aren't complete entitled little children and wouldn't pirate everything if they could get away with it? Take a look at the Humble Indie Bundle sales. Even with Notch and his ilk donating 2000k dollars to the cause, do you know what was the average contribution rate amounts to? 4.81 dollars per sale. That's absolutely miserable especially for bundles that have at least 3 extremely high quality games in it. Anyone who contributed less than 15 dollars to these sales should be absolutely ashamed of themselves.

People with this kind of attitude needs to really start taking care of where they throw it towards with regards to buying and torrenting games. Because while piracy is completely a non-issue with the AAA section of the gaming industry, it is surprisingly caustic to the indie development scene, which is now, the only lifeblood of creativity the game industry has.

As for difficult to sell crap? Have you seen the sales figures for that miserable pile of recycled franchise-wanking SHIT known as Call of Duty MW2? Have you seen the pre-orders for MW3?

Because it's a risky venture to implement it for all games. You'd have to have it approved by all publishers for all of their games for this to happen. The best you can hope for now is to write to the games publisher and tell them how they've lost your sale because they didn't provide a demo. I guarantee you, if enough people do this, the publishers will listen, and if they don't, then they don't deserve your business anyways.

it doesnt work for games like dnf, cuz ure done with the game in 6 hours anyway
and if u try it for just 1-2 hours u might be replete with the game and u wouldnt buy it anymore, the chance is (too) high.
