Great cover man! Perhaps not the most challenging track to play but a great performance nevertheless

Hi, man I wish I could play like that !

I have two questions for you,

1 - Is this guy any good ?

    Beat it

    Rollin' in the deep

He has millions of views and is impressive to me but I don't know much about guitar so...

2 - Can you play acoustic guitar also ? And what is more difficult to begin with, an acoustic or electric guitar ? What about acoustic-electric ?

Would you believe I had a window opened with that asian kid on youtube just when I read this post
Not a big fan of Sungha but seen most of his vids (since his start on YT) coz I love the "dry" (unchanged) sound from an acoustic. Makes me relax.

Which one is harder depends a little what you play. I could probably do some stuff on my electric with just one hand which would make you think I was a highly skilled guitar player. Good luck doing that on an acoustic. Most of the stuff he plays on acoustic I wouldn't say is easier on an electric. But for us electric guitar players who likes to do the typical stuff you do on an electric, a little soloing etc, an acoustic is about x100 times more difficult. You'll get away with So much stuff on an electric, while even a "half miss" will stand out on an acoustic.

I think many or most guitar players would agree that the guys who do play acoustic, and play it like it was an electric are the most skilled players.
If we are talking about technical skill.

On another note, no matter how skilled guys like Yngwie Malmsten can play an acoustic guitar as well, I've never seen any of the rock worlds electric guitar players do anything even near to what guys who only play acoustic can do. Those guys never get any attention in media though, since they play the wrong music and don't have the image to feed us with (for the big crowd).

Why don't you start playing an instrument? Doesn't matter what you choose, if you start playing a little guitar, you just need to learn 3 simple chords, and strum the guitar, you'll be able to play a hundered thousand different songs with that. After that if you try piano, sax or whatever, you'll "get it" a lot faster. Same tones, same chords. Learning an instrument is creativity at its best. I'm sure one will benefit from that in other fields as well.

Not to mention all the p*ssy that comes along with it.

Acoustic-electric surely would be a great choice, sometimes I try one of my friend's similar guitar, it's amazing, I wish I could buy one right now and get some free time to ugrade all the "skill" I've got.
Nice to see you are interested Dre

I'm sure videos are great (Violent Pornography ! I loved this song some years ago ), I have an error, probably I have to use that YouTube plugin for Mozilla which Phil presented, when my laziness is gone I'll surely check it : )

For the Chinese guy, yes he's good, but many acoustic players play like him, it's just technical skill Btw, you can have this level in about 5 years of guitar "experience" I mean ...
No matter that you play electric or acoustic guitar, it's the same deal It's just a bit different about the technical, and the sound as well ...
If you like this kind of song, you should play a acoustic guitar

Acoustic isn't more difficult, I mean ... It's the same deal you know ? It's just the technical aspect.
But, the skill don't matter, just play your own song, and feel it ... It's more beautiful than a fast soloing of Death Metal with awesome technicals skills (legato etc ...)
I'm 100% agree with you Petter about playing a instrument, it's fantastic, just play when I get stress for about 10 min, and the stress disapear It's like our little world when we play

    It's light years apart

If I would record a song with my electric, it may turn out perfect on the MP3. But if you would hear that same riff unplugged, it may sound bad. Try that on full distorsion, on the MP3 you hear a riff that sounds good, but on the "acoustic" version (with the electric) half of the tones are missing and the rest of the tones sound shit. But you get away with it, the amplifying fixes it for you.

Whatever mistakes you do when you play and record an acoustic guitar, you will hear them on the MP3, coz what you hear "in real life" is what you hear on the MP3, which is not the case with electric guitar at all.
That's why you gotta play everything fucking perfect when you play acoustic guitar. Not to mention bends and on an acoustic, which is a pain in the ass.

It's absolutely not the same deal.

You're right ! But it's all about effects in eletric guitar, just remove all the stompbox, and ear the clean of the amp and it will have the same with a acoustic. Btw if you put chorus modulation on acoustic amp, you can't ear some mistakes too

Basicl, it's the same deal about "theory", same neck, notes on it etc ... I didn't know you talk about the sound

I see. Petter, I play an instrument, the piano, badly, as in I can't do complex stuff, but I can play it. And I understand basic music theory concepts (I can read note sheets, I know what chords, chord progressions, scales are).

Guitars sure look fascinating. I also love the sound acoustic guitars produce and it's not the first time I hear they are less forgiving. I don't know if it's a good or bad thing for a beginner though. But they're cheaper I guess ? You don't have to buy an amp and what else ? Because there's no point buying all that stuff to realize you don't like it. I already have a mixing console. Acoustic-electric seem to be a good compromise..

I misread that part the first time, got it now though.

I don't think it matters. You'll have a period ahead of you with much more basic issues than those I mentioned. What I was talking about is probably something one deals with after a few years, until forever.

And if you like the sound of an acoustic, I'd absolutely get a so called "Western" guitar, aka "steel string" (same as Sungha plays).
And I'd buy second hand, or go in a shop asking for a deal on a demo ex or something (whatever to get the best bang for the buck).

Electric acoustic mostly means (I think) an ordinary Western guitar with an in built mic.
Maybe you meant semi-acoustic, but acousticly, those don't provide anything near an acoustic guitar, and probably less that half the volume.
