Afaik 7th gen i7's have hyperthreading, but 9th gen don't. But instead of that you get more cores (8c/8t as a replacement of 6c/12t). You get a bit better performance in gaming, but less performance in professional use. For me Intel went the wrong way, because i7's strongest feature and what made them a class higher than i5's was hyperthreading and now it's gone

You want to tell me that after 7th gen even less CPUs have hyper-threading? (not only i5 but now i7 too) WTF this Intel is a ripoff, and last time I looked the prices, they are still in the sky, why? From what I know the Intel processors don't offer anything apart from running better in games but it is because game developers specially optimized it for them- I doubt a 8600K can beat R5 3600 , at least to a point where I can justify the +70-80 € price here.

Oh, at least the 9600K is only 20 € more expensive) That is ok

On the gaming end Intel had to reduces their prices because AMD seriously started to kick their ass with the Ryzen (actual CPU top sales on LDLC - biggest tech specialized store in France)

Prices ares still high because of increasing number of cores in every segment (8th generation brought 4 cores to i3's). And in i7's segment 8 cores is standard now.

HOWEVER 10th gen will bring back hyperthreading to even i5's. Core i5-10600K will have 6 cores and 12 threads.

I really should upgrade my CPU, cause i've been using this xeon for almost 9 years xD

and then you realise why the amd stock suddenly went 600+%

you couldve turned your 7k€ investment into 44k€ in 2 years if you knew about the amd products and the growing market share

all the next gen consoles will use amd hardware again so i am really looking forward to ryzen 4xxx series

So I OCed the ram at 2400mhz, now it seems the auto voltage goes up to 1,280v to push my CPU at 4,5 Ghz, temp reaches 80°c, sometimes more especially on long gaming sessions. Note that playing NFS heat without OC kept my CPU below 70°c (69 precisely).

so accorded to what you say I can lower it by 5%, so i'm gonna try now and run the game again since that easly eats all my ressources.

nice i think 5% seems a little bit too much, better try in 3% steps

went down from 1.280v to 1.235, NFS works nominally and I didn't exceed 75°c yet, will surely go to 80, gonna play a bit first and see if it crashes

looks like I scratched a few more points, I wonder how far I can go if I OC to 5Ghz, but the last time I did that, the MSI mobo burn...

    https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/43054548?l...TMxH4Rq675wNkg

Edit: I don't think i"ll do much more with the CPU, I looked closely and the 300 more points I got were just due to the GPU's providing a better score than the prev bench

edit 2: 1.200v temp is contained at 76°c. I gotta go now but tomorow I will try reducing a bit more

4,5 isnt much of an oc try 4,7 with 1,280V - 4,5 is rather for daily use at lowest possible voltage

45x @ 1.150v works and keeps the temp below 76°c at peak (I keep trying lower voltages)

I'll try your recommendation but I suspect the temp to raise above 80°c again

gj man thats what i am talking about

i sold the gtx 1070 Ti already and got the 590 back as i fell in love with AMD image sharpening

one of my customers will upgrade to 4K soon and i will probably get his ROG 240Hz monitor and his 5700 (hopefully)

so yeah your score is really good and it seems like your CPU is a good one being capable of decent oc

I'm tempted to push up to 5.0Ghz, peak temp now at 4.8 is 85°c but that's small peaks, the air getting off my computer is warm but not hot as it used to be, i'm on an average of 70-75°c instead of constant 85 with my prev MSI mobo. Fans are audible but not noisy.

    ROG products rocks

By the way when you get your hands on 240Hz, could you tell me if the investment is really worth it compared to 144? I suppose it'll benefit on competitive FPS but I doubt it will be noticable in other games

    For the sake of numbers

    stable x50 @ 1.350v; I can surely reduce the v but I didn't try. Peak temp 93°c (average 76-79), fans gets noisy
