"New posts" problem

Daamn.. Why?? I guess you're used to the old setting on GZ & GM....


But I'm more used to the new one, some big forums that I visit have this.



There are so many good things with this:

- If you don't have time to read every new post and you have to log out, you'll see those posts as new the next time you log in. This is a damn good thing if you have to share comps!!! Do oyu know how much it sucked if I didn't have time to read all the topics and had to log out when Doofy came to the computer... the next time I loggesd in I had to guess which posts I saw and didn't see...

- Forum statusicons update automatically! (Need images to explain this )

- "New Posts" actually shows only new posts. It's very confusing when you click "New Posts" and there are actually topics that don't have new posts..

- When you double click statusicon to mark specified forums read, it also aplies to sub-forums too! If use this almost every time for the International Chatterbox when I don't have time to check all the spam topics.. One clikc and they're all marked as read (unlike before).

Yes exactly!! I use two different comps and I hate to guess which topics I haven't seen.. This makes it so easy.

Good to hear. I was pretty sure this would fix it... The main difference between this setting and the old one is that this setting has a database which has all the info about what topics you've seen and what you haven't seen. Yes it takes some server resources maybe but what the hell, I don't see any difference..
With the old setting everything was stored in your own cookies...

Yes this was the only downside. The first time you log in after this setting change every topic that has posts newer than 10 days appear as "new" to you (because the database doesn't have any info yet). Just click "Mark Frums Read" button and it's ok...

No!! It's due to my sucky browsing... I just checked Chatterbox and didn't see topic for ANIS so I created one... I still have about 30 unread topics since last visit..

Suddenly I see 100 "new" pages, but then when I check, they are from several days ago

Noooo, I have logged in several times and still there are so many "new" topics
