Russia kicked Finland Of the Hockey World Championships 2008 in Canada with 4:0.

Sergej Fjodorow (14.), Danis Saripow (24.), Alexej Morosow (53.) und Maxim Suschinskij (58.) scored the goals for russia ("Sbornaja").


Russia performed with skill, opportunism, and solid defence, scoring in each period. Finland, which took two penalties for too many men on the ice, didn’t seem to have its legs or to be mentally ready to play.


The Finns, who so often start well and finish sadly, will seek their third straight World Championship medal in Saturday’s third-place game. They claimed silver last year and bronze in 2006.

With pressure in the Russian zone midway through the game, Finland had a glorious chance to get on the board, but Nabokov collapsed into the splits in front of Mikko Koivu and stopped the puck with his pants.


The secound Semi final is between Canada and Sweden.

Well, the game was much tighter than the numbers. I think Russia used very surprising strategy, they didn't attack as much as usually, they used "counter-attack" strategy (first two goals were from good counter-attacks, nice goals ).

Finland had some great chances but Nabokov made few big saves.


Then Finland took two dumb penalties in the 3rd period (too many men on the ice, 2 times in a row, WTF ) and Russia scored 3-0. 4-0 was empty-netter.

Well good luck in the final Russia, I think Canada will win this sh1t though.

Sweden just scored, they lead Canada 2-1.


What a bunch of lucky bastards, Canada hit the post in Swedish end and 10 seconds later the puck ends up in Canada's net.

Yeah last one was the only emty-netter. The 3rd one was power-play goal when Finnish dudes took very dumb penalty (too many men on the ice). That goal killed the game for us.
