Haha he did it with his shoelaces open.
The shoelaces of his left shoe opened after ~70 meters.
Think about what the time would have been if he hadn't stopped running after 70 meters and his shoelaces would have been closed the whole time...
Less than 9,60 I'm sure...

Yeah but imo it's a bit too easy to get many medals in swimming..
There are so many different events...
If some dude got gold medal in 100m, 200m and 400m running that would be bigger achievement than Phelps' 8 gold medals imo...
