Great to see someone with right wing views
I'm still rocking with my Xeon X3440 which is equvalent to 1st gen i7 860. Is it worth upgrading to i7-4770K or 4790K as for right now, or better wait for next gen Intel platform? (It's going to be paired with GTX 980 Ti).
i once got a xeon X3440, its pretty outdated and i'd recommend an upgrade (20% FPS gain averagely)
as for i7's from 3rd to 7th Generation there is not much of a huge difference among them - 4 cores 8 threads, still enough for your card and most games
Ryzen 2 or Intel 8th gen would be a huge performance boost for your card - around 35% i'd say plus these platforms are pretty cheap for what they perform right at the moment
Forgot to mention that I currently have 16GB of DDR3 memory, so the 4th gen i7 CPU would be the last gen that still supports ddr3 so I don't have to spend extra money for ddr4 (which would propably also be 16gigs). So my question is: will I notice a significant improvement in gaming/video editing if I switch to 4770/4790K or should I wait for upcoming next gen intel and pay extra money or that 4th gen should be enough for now

hard question man - to be honest with you wait or go to AM4 right now
i don't see any real reason to upgrade right now as there are no worthy games actually...
i am currently using a 1231 V3 Xeon paired with 16GB and an RX 580 8GB to do nothing with it but waiting for decent games
So here are finally few pics of my computer rework which sees several components getting replaced. And the reasons why I made those changes were because I do no longer use the CD driver and I recently invested in M2 SSD so it freed lot of place, and my pc case was too bigass for the real use I had of it. Also I will admit that I wanted to follow the trend of the RGB lights lol, I originally wanted to light in white but heh, multicolor is.. cool too, I guess
CPU: intel Core i5 7600K
Mobo: Asus Strix Z270HMSI Z270 Gaming M3 (broken)
Sound: Asus Xonar Essence STX II
GPU: MSI GTX 1070 Gaming Z
Memory: x2 Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO Series 8Gb & x2 HyperX Savage 8Gb (total 32Gb)
SSD M2: x2 Corsair Force MP510 960GbHyperX Savage 960gb & 480gb (replaced)
Case: Thermaltake Level 20 MT ARGBBeQuiet Silentbase 800 Window (replaced)
Cooler:Thermaltake Water 3.0 240 ARGB SYNCCorsair Hydro H105 (replaced)
PSU: BeQuiet Straight Power 11 600W
At some point the next GPU I will have will be from Asus, because I can't stand having components from different brands (and also because MSI disapointed me twice with their mobos) I will also sell my two HyperX Savage rams to buy two Corsairs like those I brought to make 4 lightened ram, and in a long future I will buy a PSU from Thermaltake aswell (for the same reason as the GPU ) but PSUs from BeQuiet are really really good and reliable, to a point I don't even think about changing it yet.
Note that I thought it'd be a hell to connect all those RGB cables to sync all this shit but even though having an user manual would be the same as not having one with Thermaltake (shitty explanations) as a matter of fact is was easy peasy. Just don't do RGB if you don't have a pc case that features a PSU hood, because the cable management is the real hell, there's so much and it's not sure you'd be able to hide them all.
Although I'm not a big fan of RGB setups, I have to admit that this is a very nice and clean looking build. Love the cable management
