Finally got myself a brand new 10700K for a reasonable price. CPU running @ stock, max. temp. 67 cooled by corsair h100i rgb pro

I guess that's not too bad, but I still think it's too expensive compared to the AMD offer, Intel will be back on track but not before one or two next generations again.
It reminds me of when I built my first PC with the i5 7600K, I knew Kaby-Lake was a crappy refresh of Skylake but I had no choice because I was still allergic to AMD at that time
AMD offers more cores/threads at the same price point, but it means nothing to me when Intel is still the king when it comes to performance in games. I bought a 8c/16t high-end cpu, which should perform very well for the next 5-6 years or more, so there's no need for me to buy cpu like 3900x with 12 cores i would never make use of.
And yes, it's still a Skylake refresh, but if we look at raw perfomance, i'm all set for the future.
That's surely a good deal if you intend to change your GPU soon enough, elsewise you just got robbed. Your actual 1080 doesn't need so much cpu power and imo paying twice the price (and 10700K's normal price is 400€) than a 3600X for just 4000 physics more is such a balance killer in price/perf. You might have a better performance on the paper but I bet it's only hypothetical in practice.
That's your choice anyway, not judging
at least u have a warm winter now 125W tdp xd

Do you really think I bought this cpu to get a couple of points more in benchmarks? 10700K has a better performance in games than 3900X (not to mention 3600X ) and the latter is slightly more expensive, those 12 cores doesn't matter that much unless you're editing high res videos and do other cpu-heavy tasks, which i don't.
and yes, i'm curious about upcoming RTX 3000 series, might get a 3070 if the price is gonna be reasonable
i think both cpu variants are crap currently, amd is slow and intel uses stoneage oven architecture.. no reasons to purchase any at this moment

Is firestrike still relevant as a benchmark for 2020's PC's? The weird thing is that my score on FireStrike puts me below the 2020's Gaming PC standards, while the Time Spy puts me above whereas I used the exact same settings
The percentage of lesser good PCs is different aswell, which I suppose means people started to stop using FireStrike to the profit of Time Spy
nope,timespy is better or superposition.
Just got my hands on a good deal 1080 Ti aaaaaand here's my result
